Social Residence Machida-Kurihira 2015.11.06
Time for another house inspection tour! Living along the odakyu-line myself I have a sweet spot for our share houses in the area. This time I checked out Social Residence Machida-Kurihira.
Social Residence Machida-Kurihira is a very big share house (96 rooms!) located only 4 min. from Kurihira station on the Odakyu-Tama Line. You have access to Shinjuku in only about 30 min. and can get straight to Tokyo Metro Chiyoda line via the Tama express.
Within walking distance you have the most famous Onsen in the whole area, YukaiSoukai.
The share house is managed by Shusaku Aida, an energetic young guy that really takes care of his residents (and occasionally dresses up as a panda).
Why should you move into Social Residence Machida-Kurihira?
To put it simply: you get A LOT of value for your money!
Single rooms in this share house range from 59-63,000 yen, which is a very affordable price considering the outstanding shared facilities, the location of the share house and the great atmosphere among the residents as well as with the house manager.
Like with all Social Residences, Machida-Kurihira has some really nice common facilities you can use at your own leisure.
Office space/ Common lounge
Here you can study, work or just take it easy and read a book.
Theater room/Music Room
This theater room is soundproofed, so a lot of musicians uses this room to practice!
There are several guitars in the share house by the way, free to use!
Bench press bench
Aside from being close to lots of parks providing a nice jogging experience, Machida-Kurihira also has a small space for working out on the bottom floor.
Although there is no veranda in the room there is plenty of space on the roof to dry your clothes.
As befitting of a bigger type share house there is a huge kitchen as well as dining hall in the house - so no need to wait in line to cook! During parties and events it can get quite full:
Considering the price of only 59-63,000 yen per month you get all you can ask for - Refigerator, desk, closet space etc.
All in all this is a great house if you are looking for a very affordable social share house with good access to Shinjuku and Kanagawa prefecture!

If you happen to speak Swedish you are more than welcome to check my private blog Vilse i Japan. There is a bit of info about share houses, about learning Japanese and much more, so take a look if you have the time!
I am Filip, currently working at Oakhouse Information Center.
I am originally from Sweden and have been in Japan two years.
At Oakhouse I want to spread my passion for the share house lifestyle and help people from all over the world to find the place just for them in Tokyo. My main area is the south-western part of the great Tokyo area, so I know all about Kanagawa prefecture and what small gems you can find if you just go a bit outside of downtown Tokyo.
Ｉn this blog I will try to write about our newly opened share house and about other share houses around Kanagawa Prefecture.
