Area information of Yokohama

Yokohama is on the Tokyo Bay, in the east of Kanagawa prefecture. It has a unique history and a high degree of diversity.
There are many places in Yokohama where you can feel the mood of many different countries and cultures. Perhaps the most famous spot in Yokohama is its very own Chinatown, with over 200 restaurants serving authentic Chinese food. The Motomachi/Yamate area is home to several examples of European architecture, such as the British House Yokohama, which was originally built as the British Consular Residence, and the Bluff No. 18, originally built toward the end of the Taisho period.


Area information of SakuragichoStation

Sakuragicho station is on the JR Negishi and Yokohama subway blue lines. Until 2004 it was accessible through the Tokyu Toyoko line, but now it is part of the Minato Mirai line extension. The history of Sakuragicho station is as long as the history of railways in Japan. The first railway line in Japan began in 1872, connecting Shinbashi to Yokohama, and Yokohama station was where Sakuragicho station is today. In 1915, Yokohama station opened in its current location, and the station at this location was renamed to Sakuragicho. Service on the blue line started in 1976, and remains an important transportation line. The station sees 70,000 riders per day on the JR portion, and around 40,000 for the subway. It has been increasing in recent years due to the revitalization of the Minato Mirai area. There are also several bus lines from the station. The station building is clean and has an open design.
