"Japanese-English"

Everyone's familiar with the strange and fantastic ways English is often treated in Japan.
This is especially true in the case of commercial advertisements.

Enjoy!

This was written on a "carry out" shopping bag,

"Cool People who with
The Sense of
Mismatch who can
Enjoy mixed taste
And stylish joke
We wish those people
To select our
SWORDFISH"

I'm guessing "SWORDFISH" is clothing company of some sort.
Wow, now that a pretty "niche market" if I ever did see one.

I mean how many cool people in Tokyo have;

A). taken the time to develope themselves a proper sense for mismatch?
And out of those people,
B). how many enjoy a mixed taste, AS WELL AS stylish jokes?

And out of those people,
c). why is it that your so certain they're going to select YOUR "SWORDFISH"?

I mean seriously why wouldn't they choose somebody els' "SWORDFISH"?
Why wouldn't they choose MY "SWORDFISH"?
I have a pretty nice "SWORDFISH"!

Hm....
I think this company is badly in need of a new marketing strategist!

By the way, I understand that "swordfish" is a type of sea creature of some sort,
but isn't "SWORDFISH" always a code for something else?

Isn't like operation "SWORDFISH" in one of Robert Ludlums novels?
I could be wrong. Maybe this bags trying to communicate something to me in code,

....Maybe I'm the one in a novel.

Oakhouse Guest House
What's About Tokyo Survivor

Hey everyone, I'm from a small farming community in Canada, Population 3000. Quite a contrast with Tokyo, yet I love them both! I came to Japan about 3 years ago and have since then discovered Budo, Ramen, Shimokitazawa and Gyaru-Sone. Gotta love it. I'll be blogging here for Oakhouse for some time and hope to make the most of it. You can bet that the further I go along, the deeper into Tokyo's numerous sub-cultures will I go. So come along with me into my strange miss-adventures and we'll reveal sides of Tokyo few people know. With a population the size of Canada were bound to run into something funky!
Here's to "never stop discovering", Kindly Yours,
Matt
