Community Gardens in Tokyo
Community Gardens in Tokyo
People in Tokyo love gardening,
Any inch of recoverable space is used to put something green there.
One of the most interesting and welcomed things that I've laid my eyes on
in this mego-la-polis, are community gardens.
I'm not sure how many there are in other areas of Tokyo,
but Nerima has quiet a few....there are gardens for old people,
gardens for children, gardens belonging to no one in particular
or run by elementary, Junior High or high schools all over the place.
Although they may not measure in size to Canadian gardens,
they still are very beautiful and well maintained.
Here are a few pictures of a community garden about 7 minuits
walk from Nerima Station. As you can see there are Japanese
Radishes, Green Beans, Soya Beans and various other veggies!
The earth is black in Nerima and the quality of green superb!

I think I'll be inquiring into getting a small patch of green myself
in the not to distant future, and if you plan on spending any length
of time as well - I suggest you do the same.
Happy Green Thumbing it guys!
Yours,
Matt
