Station overview

Ayase is in Adachi ward in Tokyo, on the JR Joban and Tokyo Metro Chiyoda line. It opened in 1943, and was moved nearby in 1968. The station saw renovations in 2002. Platforms 1 and 2 head toward Kita Senju and Otemachi, while lines 3 and 4 yead toward Matsudo, Kashiwa, Abiko, and Toride. JR ridership here is 14,000, which does not take into account riders on the Metro portion. The Metro portion has two exits, and the east exit has an elevator, and both have escalators.

Places to see

Near Ayase station are Higashi Ayase Park and Tokyo Budokan. The park has a lovely Japanese garden, with many beautiful sakura trees. There is also a basketball and tennis court, and sports and other leisure facilities.
Tokyo Budokan is within Higashi Ayase Park, and has a beautiful exterior that many architecture students come to see. There are facilities for various martial arts, including archery, and it holds many events. There is also a tea room where one can take part in tea ceremonies.

Lifestyle

As the first stop on the Chiyoda line, you can usually find a seat at Ayase station, and it is convenient for both commuting and private travel. There are plenty of places to shop nearby, and a 24-hour supermarket, as well as other places to eat and buy food and everything you will need day to day. Plus there are many places to be among nature. You can get to Tokyo or Ikebukuro stations in around 30 minutes, or Shinjuku or Shibuya in 30 to 40. To the east is the Nakagawa river, and the Arakawa flows to the east.
