Waseda station is in Shinjuku ward in Tokyo, and is a stop along the Tokyo Metro Tozai line. It opened in 1964. Its trains head toward either Nishi-Funabashi, Tsudanuma, and Toyo Katsutadai, or Takadanobaba, Nakano, and Mitaka. There are elevators that connect to exits 1 and 3. Average daily ridership is 82,370, and has been climbing rapidly in recent years. Due to its proximity to Waseda University, it is used by many students. There are escalators and wheelchair accessible bathrooms.

Places to see

Ryuzenji is a beautiful Buddhist temple 100 meters from Waseda station. It was built in the early Edo period, in 1638, and a new hall was built in 2011. It has many weeping cherry trees that have been featured many times in media.
Sosanji temple was established in 1543 as the burial site for the son of a regional lord. There are many other temples in this area that were established in the Edo period and later.

Lifestyle

There are several supermarkets around Waseda station so it should be easy to buy food. There are also drug stores, 100-yen stores, and many cheap places to eat and drink that are often used by students. This is mostly an area inhabited by students and single workers, but it is still rather safe. It is just 10 minutes to Nakano station, or a few more to Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ikebukuro, or Tokyo stations. Despite its proximity to these metropolitan areas, there are many nature spots and parks around Waseda station. Though there are a lot of people in this area, the neighborhoods are relaxed and quiet.
