Oakhouse Share Houses have common areas such as lounges and studios where residents can interact with each other and naturally start conversations. You can study languages while living in the house, share dishes from around the world, and experience things you can't experience living alone.

Oakhouse is not only chosen by Japanese, but also by people from all over the world.
The ranking of foreign residents had people from the US in first place! Second place went to South Korea, third to France, fourth to China and fifth to the UK.
Outside the top ranks there are residents from all over the world, including Oceania, South America and the Middle East.

What kind of people are living with Oakhouse?

Most foreign tenants have come to Japan as a student.
In terms of occupational ranking, teachers, lecturers and instructors were the most common occupations, while research/development-related and professional/technical occupations were also common.
The male to female ratio is about 6:4, with slightly more men than women, and most of the residents are in their 20s and 30s, but there are also many residents in their 40s and up, as well as teenagers.
You can meet many people regardless of their occupation or age.

Which Share Houses offer international exchange?

Most Oakhouse Share Houses have people from abroad staying there but here are the most popular properties.
Places 1 to 7 are dominated by our bigger, Social Residence properties!
Being our biggest properties there are many people living in each house and events are held regularly.
All of those properties' facilities can be used for free, often including a gym, a music studio and theatre room.

We interviewed residents who came to Japan for various reasons such as studying abroad, working in Japan or doing a Working Holiday.
We asked about their life in a Share House, their life in Japan, their reasons for coming to Japan, what they're interested in at the moment, and other unique experiences!

Summary

The number of foreigners living in Japan is increasing. The purpose of their stay varies from foreign students, people working in Japan, people doing a Working Holiday and of course people coming to Japan as a tourist.
