The Toyo Rapid Railway is a third-sector railway, funded by the national government, local governments, and private businesses. Therefore, it has a much smaller scale than JR or other private railways. However, the Toyo line is very important, connecting Tokyo with Funabashi and Yachiyo cities in Chiba prefecture, by having through service with Tokyo Metro Tozai line. The entirety of the line is only 16.2 km, but it is a lifeline for Chiba residents going into Tokyo everyday. The main part of the line connects Nishi-Funabashi station in Funabashi city and Toyo Katsutadai station in Yachiyo city, and more and more people are using this line. This has enabled the area itself to grow and develop, with large shops and malls being built. Nishi-Funabashi in particular is quite busy, perhaps one of the most important stations in western Chiba. On the Tozai line, you can get to Otemachi and other areas of Tokyo conveniently, while also maintaining a comfortable and convenient lifestyle at home.
Things to see
The Toyo Rapid Line has 9 stations over a compact 16.2 km, but it still boasts plenty to see. Many restaurants are cropping up around Nishi-Funabashi station that are popular with young people, and is a convenient area. Near Kita-Narashino station is the Funbashi Hans Christian Andersen Park, a European-style garden divided into several zones. Fululu Garden Yachiyo, near Murakami and Toyo Katsutadai stations, is a good shopping mall. There are many areas of nature along the Toyo Rapid line, making it a good place to raise a family. Around Yachiyo Midorigaoka station is the Keisei Rose Garden, and there are many places to pick fresh fruit around Yachiyo Chuo station. Sometimes people from the city even come out this way.

People have always been moving in to Tokyo, and those people need places to live, and they are looking for convenience and cost. The areas along the Toyo Rapid line cover these bases well. If you come into Tokyo for work or school, a direct through line to the Tozai line is helpful. Even though it is not that far from Tokyo, the rent prices are quite reasonable. The area has also seen an influx of young recently-married couples. Here you can have a solid comfortable lifestyle that is also convenient. Anything else you need can be found after a short excursion to Nishi-Funabashi station, or via the Tozai line into Tokyo.
