SOCIAL RESIDENCE FUSSA

Final Edition

Opened February 2018! 164-room Social Residence on the Tama river

Cafe-like co-working space

Today, we visited Social Residence Fussa, just 18 minutes from Tachikawa and 47 to Shinjuku, along the Tamagawa river surrounded by nature. The house has a co-working space, gym, music study, theater room, large Japanese bath, and other nice features. What can we find at this refined space?

You'll surely find something new here--friends, work, hobbies, and more

A 14-minute walk from Fussa station on the Ome line is Social Residence Fussa. Here, residents from all over the world live in one building, in an area close to nature along the Tama river, enjoying work, study, sports, and more together.

The smell of coffee in the co-working space - easy and focused work and study for freelancers or remote workers

One of the great things about SR Fussa is the co-working space just off the entrance. The designer built this place to be like a garden cafe. Here, freelancers, remote workers, and students can easily focus on their tasks.

We also heard that some residents here started a business together. Maybe you'll find a future business partner here!

We said that the co-working space is "like" a cafe. We were wrong. It's basically a cafe!

There's a coffee maker, ice machine, and wine cooler. Freely switch from work mode to relax mode.

We've created this space so smokers can enjoy their time without bothering the non-smokers.
There is an old-American style cigar bar room by the co-working space, with a sofa and TV.

Take a little break from work

Many ways to enjoy the wood deck space, like a resort hotel

Past the co-working space is a garden with a wood deck, reminding us of a resort hotel. There are garden chairs and a sofa.
Maybe you've got writer's block, or just can't get any work done and you need some fresh air and green to refresh. You'll surely find your breakthrough soon enough!

Good if you love the outdoors!

Out here in the garden space you can also enjoy a bbq grill.
There are so many different ways to enjoy these spaces.

Work out! Listen to music! Watch a movie! Do it all here!

The best thing about Social Residence is of course the social space! SR Fussa has a training gym, music studio, theater room, and more.
It's hard--and expensive--to go to a gym, but here you have a free gym at home you can use any time.
If you live here, that is!

Work up a sweat

Get the band together

Soundproof theater room

Find new hobbies

Want to learn a new instrument? Do you know how, but can never get your friends together to rent a studio? Just need a place to practice?

Use the music studio, brush up your guitar licks, jam with your housemates, write songs together or belt out covers. Endless possibilities!

Make a tasty meal, relax in front of the TV in the living room and dining room

The 2nd floor has the living and dining room. Here you can make a meal, relax on the sofa, watch TV. All the cookware and dishes you'll need are here. There's a supermarket by the station, so it's easy to pick stuff up on the way home and whip something up. This is a great environment to improve your cooking skills!

Work, study, move... then relax!

You'll need a way to wind down after all that excitement. Luckily a share house is, obviously, your house, so we hope you can be comfortable here.
Many share houses have booth showers (this house has 12), but sometimes you want to stretch out and soak in a bath. Luckily there's a big Japanese-style bath here!

In the corner of the hallway is a library space. Wind down with a good book in this secret space. Or fill your head with exciting manga panels. Either way, it's a good way to cool down after a long day.

Between 33,000 yen to 45,000 yen per month - storage space

There are two types of rooms, with single or semi-double beds, so you can choose what best fits your life. The furniture and wallpaper styles are also different in each room. All rooms have wifi, storage, and a refrigerator. This way you still have plenty of privacy.

There is also plenty of space to do laundry, or shower, and there is even a shoe-washing/drying machine on the 1st floor. It's like they thought of everything!

Postscript

When people think of a share house, they often think of a place where young people are always partying, or somthing like that. I know that's what I thought. But places like Social Residence, and especially here at Fussa, are more than that. Every resident lives at their own pace, but still come together to enjoy comfortably.

I myself am a writer, and of course sometimes I have writer's block. And sometimes the key to finding an idea can come from something a friend says to me, whether they realize it or not. So I know I am often helped by other people.

Social Residence Fussa is a place much like that, where you can learn, make new friends, encourage each other, and find new things and people, especially in an environment full of people from all over the world, with different jobs, ideas, and hobbies. I'm pretty jealous, to be honest!
