I’m planning a slow and peaceful escape from Tokyo to explore some of Kamakura’s most beautiful hidden spots together.

First we’ll visit Meigetsuin, the famous “Hydrangea Temple,” where thousands of blue hydrangeas bloom along stone paths and around quiet Zen gardens during the rainy season. The temple is hidden in the forested hills of Kita-Kamakura and has this dreamy atmosphere that feels almost unreal in June.

After that we’ll head to Hokokuji, Kamakura’s famous bamboo temple. The bamboo grove there is smaller than Kyoto’s Arashiyama, but honestly feels much calmer and more intimate. Tall green bamboo completely surrounds the paths, and inside the grove there’s a traditional tea house where we can sit down for matcha and Japanese sweets while looking directly into the bamboo forest.

We’ll also walk through old streets, small local areas, and finish the day near the sea. If the weather is nice, we can sit by the beach around sunset and wash our legs in the ocean after walking all day.

Just a relaxed cultural day trip with temples, nature, tea, quiet streets, and good company!
