Area information

Sagamihara, in the north of Kanagawa, has both city areas and places of nature. There are lakes and mountains, and good roads, parks, businesses, schools, and it is a convenient place to live.

It is one of the biggest illumination events in the Kanto region, using over 6 million bulbs to create a fantastic scene.

Sagamihara station is in Sagamihara city's Chuo ward in Kanagawa prefecture, and lies along the JR Yokohama line. Average daily ridership is climbing in recent years, and is approaching 30,000. This is not that high for a station on the Yokohama line, but it is a lively area with many tall buildings.
The station opened in 1941 and has since acted as the gateway to this area. It is the central station for Sagamihara city, and it is also an express stop which is helpful for people living nearby. Sagamihara borders Tokyo and Yamanashi prefectures. There are bus terminals at both the north and south exits, giving you plenty of coverage for travel around the area.
