Summer in Japan means one thing: summer festivals!
This year, we’re holding the OAKHOUSE Summer Festival event “Toda Summer Fes” at our brand-new share house “Landmark Toda,” which opened this March.
The venue will feature classic Japanese festival food stalls like shaved ice, takoyaki, super ball scooping, and target shooting. Residents also have a chance to set up their own booths if they have ideas like “I want to try running this kind of shop!”
In addition to the food stalls, there will be art exhibits, a performance stage, and a chance to experience wearing a yukata (summer kimono).
At the end of the event, everyone will join together for a “Bon Odori” dance.
Let’s make summer memories together!
ーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーーー
Bon Odori is a traditional Japanese summer dance performed during the Obon period, which is a time when Japanese people welcome and honor the spirits of their ancestors. People dance in a circle to music, and the moves are usually very simple, so anyone can join. Each region in Japan has its own unique style of Bon Odori.
