Oak Explorers: Miyamaedaira
New share house built in Miyamaedaira!
A new share house has been built in Miyamaedaira in Yokohama city, called Miyamaedaira Terrace. It is a relaxing, grown-up house...but what about the rest of the town?
This time, Ito from marketing, new manager Arita, veteran manager Arai, and Yuri from the Info Center explored the town!
25 minutes direct to Shibuya!
Convenient area around the station
The closest station to Miyamaedaira Terrace is Miyamaedaira station on the Den-en-toshi line. It's only a local stop, but around the station there are convenience stores, supermarket, 100 yen shop, drugstore, chain restuarants, and more.
On the north side of the station is the city hall, police station, and other public service buildings, which is convenient when you need to do stuff like register your address or other procedures.
Enjoy the seasons in the park
Walk south from Miyamaedaira station to find this large park on a hill. There are cherry trees that line the perimeter that look beautiful blooming in the spring. Though of course we can't see any blossoms in the winter, we talked excitedly about how it must look in the spring when all the housemates go to have a hanami picnic together! The park is only a 3-minute walk from the house. We heard they hold festivals there in the summer too.

Healthy French food!
There are lots of chain restaurants around Miyamaedaira station, but there are also hidden gems. This is a French restaurant that puts focus on healthy food. They combine the knowledge of a dietician with the skills of a French chef. The staff was so friendly.
There are 4 types of courses, and they also have weekday lunch deals, which we ordered. Everything was presented so wonderfully we took tons of pictures!
After training in France, the chef then came back and worked in social welfare as a cook, which is what inspired them to focus on healthy food. We started with a spinach and grapefruit juice, then had potage, salad, a main dish, and dessert. The main was roast beef with a well-paired vegetable sauce. The potage and even bread were made with healthy veggies too. There is a private room available too, so it's a great place to have a special date, even!

A hill with a view of Mt. Fuji
After lunch we headed north. There are many hills in Miyamaedaira, and from this one in particular, on a clear day you may even be able to see Mt. Fuji to the west. It's a nice walk, too, with an atmosphere like out of a drama or movie. The view of the town is pretty nice too. It's a pretty steep slope but that's no problem!

We hope you've enjoyed our look at Miyamaedaira. It's a residential neighborhood with lots of hills, perfectly situated for commuting into Shibuya or Kawasaki. It has a convenient place to shop around the station for anything you need for your daily life. It's a relaxing place to call home, and Miyamaedaira Terrace itself is a calm place to stay. We hope you come check it out too!
