Area information of Funabashi
Station overview
Funabashi station is in Funabashi city in Chiba, on the JR Sobu line. It is an express stop as well, and also on the Tobu Urban Park line. Though the JR portion is quite busy during weekday rush hour, but outside peak times you can find a seat. It is the first stop on the Tobu Urban Park line so you can get a seat usually. You can get to Kashiwa or Omiya without having to change trains. The Sobu line splits at Kinshicho station, and on the express service you can get to Tokyo station in 25 minutes. Since it also has through service on the Yokosuka line, you can also get to Shinjuku, Shinagawa, and Yokohama without having to transfer. On the local service you can get to Akihabara in 29 minutes, and it goes through the Chuo line for easy access to Shinjuku. There is also plentiful bus coverage. The station area itself is also bustling with Tobu, Shapo Funabashi, and FACE department stores, with places to shop, eat and drink.
Places to see
Funabashi boasts the 2nd largest population in Chiba prefecture, and has many facilities catering to it. There is Andersen Park, Lalaport Tokyo Bay, IKEA, the Funabashi horse track, Sapporo beer factory tour, and more. Andersen Park is actually Japan's 3rd most popular theme park, with a Danish theme, separated into 5 zones. There are many things to enjoy here, and the barbecue restaurant is popular. Catch a bus from the station to get here easily and get in touch with nature on the weekends .There are also a lot of places to shop and have fun as mentioned above.
Lifestyle
Funabashi is a bit removed from the central metropolis, but you can get to Tokyo, Akihabara, Shinjuku, and other stations directly, making it a relatively easy commute. Plus the station area is lively with many shops. Outside the station area, past the shops extend residential areas, particularly to the north. The south area has more shops and restaurants to enjoy. There is also a branch office of Funabashi city hall which is convenient for official business. With good bus coverage and access to parks and the ocean, it is a great place to enjoy more natural spots.
