Area information of Kami Kitazawa

Station overview

Kami-Kitazawa is a station on the Keio line in Setagaya ward, Tokyo. It was opened in 1913, and was overhauled in 1994. Elevators were installed in 2007, connecting the gate to the platform, as well as the south exit to th eticket gate. There is only 1 platform, but there is a small kiosk and accessible bathroom. It sees 15,000 riders per day.

Places to see

There is not much of note around Kami-Kitazawa station, but there is the Kagawa Archives and Kashinomiya Park. The Kagawa Archives are 3 minutes walk from the station, and are dedicated to the works of writer Toyohiko Kagawa. Kagawa was born at the end of the Meiji period and died in 1960, and was a social and political activist. Kashinomiya Park is about 1km from the station, but there are many nice trees to enjoy. It was carefully designed in accordance with opinions of local residents so it is easy to enjoy.

Lifestyle

The area around Kami-Kitazawa is quite safe, and there is a police box outside the south exit. Further south and to the southwest there are several parks, where you can jog or walk. The great thing about this station is that it is only 10 minutes away from Shinjuku or 20 to Shibuya, if you change trains. There are 2 supermarkets outside the north exit, open until 11 and 12. Other than that there are not that many shops, so you may need to head to nearby Sakurajosui, Chitose-Karasuyama, or Meidaimae.
