Area information of Kitashinagawa

Station overview

Kita-Shinagawa station is in Shinagawa ward in Tokyo, and is a stop on the Keikyu main line. It is quite an old station, and was opened in 1904 under the name "Shinagawa", but was originally in a different location. It was moved due to nearby road construction in 1924, and in 1925 was re-named Kita-Shinagawa. Other than some platform extension work in 1982, it has not seen much renovation, other than installation of an elevator in 2007. Average daily ridership is 9,500, slightly lower than its 1990 heights, but has climbed since the 2010s. It is a local stop only.

Lifestyle

The best point about Kita-Shinagawa is its proximity to Shinagawa station. You can even walk there. Kita-Shinagawa retains an old-style downtown feel, with many small individual shops selling fresh produce and fish. You should be able to get all your daily needs. There are several small supermarkets near the station, and a fairly large hospital nearby too. This is an ideal place to live if you work in Shinagawa, or along the Keikyu line. It is close to the city center, but still has a relaxed nostalgic downtown feel. Plus it is close to the ocean, and there are many green parks within reach. For daily shopping you can get everything done at Kita-Shinagawa, and head into Shinagawa for bigger purchases.
