Area information of Naka Urawa

Station overview

Naka-Urawa station is in Saitama city, Minami ward, on the JR Saikyo line. It opened in 1985, and has quickly proven to be an important lifeline for nearby residents. Trains head either south toward Ikebukuro and Shinjuku, or north to Omiya and beyond. Average daily ridership is 13,000, and only increasing. Most people use this line to head into Tokyo for work, but ridership also spikes midday as well. The west side of the station is well-equipped for wheelchairs or the elderly. There are also many buses that leave from outside the station, allowing you to cover even wider ground.

Places to see

There are many parks near Naka-Urawa station. Bessho-numa park has over 80,000 square meters, with many trees, and walking/jogging courses, and playground for children, so families come here often. Nishibori Takanuma park is a 10 minute walk from the station, and has grounds on which you can play baseball, softball, soccer, and more. It is 1.38 hectares. It is free to use the facilities, and it holds many inclusive sports events. The city hall and ward office are also near Naka-Urawa station, which is good if you need to take care of official business.

Lifestyle

Naka-Urawa is known as a safe area, though of course some precaution should be taken at night in sparsely populated areas. There are many parks and quiet residential neighborhoods. There is a 24-hour Seiyu supermarket near the station so you can shop anytime. There are a few drugstores, but other than that most other shopping might be best taken care of at Urawa station. From Naka-Urawa you can walk east to get to the bustling area of Urawa. You can get to Ikebukuro in just over 20 minutes, or Shinjuku in 30. You can also get to Shinagawa in 40 minutes or so, and from there take a bullet train/shinkansen to other places in Japan. It's a convenient bedroom community for people working in Tokyo. You can see lots of flowers and plants on the south side of the station.
