Area information of Tobu Nerima

Station overview

Tobu Nerima station is in Itabashi ward in Tokyo, along the Tobu Tojo line. It opened in 1931, and underwent extensive renovations in 2005, including wheelchair access slops and other barrier-free improvements. Even more work was undertaken on the south side in 2007, and in 2016 it earned an alternative name, Daita Bunka Daigaku-mae station, owing to its location near the university. The station sees 60,000 riders per day. Though there are express services on the Tobu Tojo line, only the local stops at Tobu Nerima.

Places to see

Near Tobu Nerima station are the Aeon Itabashi mall and Kitamachi shopping street. The Aeon mall is just a minute's walk away from the station, and it attracts many shoppers throughout its 5 floors, where they can buy food, beauty and health products, fashion, children's goods and daily goods, and visit the food court for a bite to eat, or go to the movie theater to see a movie, or enjoy other restaurants. Many families visit here on weekends, or for shopping.
The Kitamachi shopping street extends from the south exit, and sells all sorts of goods and services. This area was originally a place to stay while travelling, and you can still get a lot of the old time feel while walking along it.

Lifestyle

There are many supermarkets near Tobu Nerima station, as well as drug stores and 100-yen shops, plus the aforementioned Aeon Mall, where you can buy pretty much everything you need. You could also eat out at a restaurant, or see a movie. The station area itself may be bustling with people, but just a few minutes walk from the station you can find many safe and quiet residential neighborhoods. People tend to live here for its excellent access into Ikebukuro, which you can get to in 15 minutes with no transfer. You can also Get to Shinjuku in just 20, or Shibuya or Tokyo in 30.
