Station overview

Totsuka station is in Totsuka ward in Yokohama city, and is on the JR Tokaido, Yokosuka, and Shonan Shinjuku line, as well as the Yokohama subway blue line. It is a quite old station. The subway extension was added in 1980, making it easy to change from the subway to the JR lines. The JR portion serves 110,000 people per day, and the subway 90,000. The subway portion of the station is large. The station surroundings have always been busy, but now there are also shopping malls, financial institutions, and public areas.

Places to see

There is plenty to see around Totsuka station, one of which is the Totsukana shopping mall, with 111 stores. It is divided into the Tokyu Plaza Totsuka, Totsukana, and Totsuka Parzo shopping malls. There are supermarkets, cafes, department stores, boutiques, restaurants, and much more. 200 meters from the station is Seigenin temple, which has a stone upon which is inscribed a poem by Matsuo Basho. It is a large temple, well away from the city, and 400 years old.
