Area information of Ukimafunado

Station overview

Ukima Funado lies roughly on the border between Kita ward and Itabashi ward in Tokyo, and is a station on the JR Saikyo line. The Saikyo line connects Tokyo and Saitama prefectures, and Ukima Funado is the closest Tokyo station to Saitama. Average daily ridership is 22,000. Ukima Funado is a local stop only. Escalators and elevators connect the various floors, and there is a waiting room on the platform.

Places to see

There are many parks full of nature in the area. Ukima Park is right outside the station, and free except for some areas, like baseball diamonds and tennis courts, though the fee is quite modest. It is a popular spot for birdwatching near the ponds.
Ukimatsuribori Park is a place you can go fishing. You can catch not only fish but crayfish as well, so it's a popular spot for a family outing. At these parks you might even forget you're in Tokyo. A fishing pole can be rented for 200 yen, and bait for 100. It's an incredibly easy and affordable way to enjoy relaxing fishing in Tokyo.

Lifestyle

There is a Maruetsu supermarket as well as others near the station, as well as one open 24 hours. There are drugstores and 100-yen shop for other convenience. It is mostly residential neighborhoods so it isn't too loud, and there is a nice walk along the Arakawa riverside, and lots of nature.
