May – 4

to conclude, regarding living, May was very ok.

not too hot, not too cold, far away from noisy roommate, finally some privacy and quiet time … and seems like i am getting a little grip back to having my own life again.

it has been such a long time.

still irritating things happen, with someone insist to move here the same time as i do, and behave soooo super childish and immature and really gets on my nerves every time i see him.

got this from a friend, isn’t it nice and soothing?

somewhere in japan, i wish i can go there with him …

it is true this might not be the most beautiful guesthouse i have ever seen or lived, however, it is one that suits me the most. even though with 2 transfer to go to work, still seems shorter than the last one, unbelievable.

the scenery, is what caught my attention most.

how can i not scolding at a place that has slope?

because it is as peaceful and soothing as this …

love these windows …

May – 3

this is not from Denny’s, but from someone that want me to help her with “something” about ENG and feel bad and decided to treat me a meal … and this is Jonathan’s.

this is a cold noodle set.

and surprisingly it taste a loooot better than the photo.

IMG_0049

i LOVE tofu, cannot tell you how much i like the texture and its “no taste” taste.

IMG_0050

and this is the one that really surprised me, with the ramen inside … wow …

the taste can be compared to ramen shop, i am not strict.

May – 2

a closer look at … salad.

IMG_0025

THIS, is one heck of a salad, and guess what, with the voucher i have, due to the fact that i have low paid, in return we have vouchers to certain restaurants like Denny’s, even this common family restaurant can serve things decently, very nice, except the fact that the タバコ煙 is unforgivable …

IMG_0026

a far away look at … salad.

IMG_0027

then, here comes THIS main thing!

the meat … OH MY goodness … cannot tell you how much i love beef …

these are one of my every day meals.

May – 1

this month goes another one of my ups and downs month.

but that does not stop me from eating the things i am interested.

in golden week, i was invited by a few people, it was nice.

there was 1 person that even invited me 2 times, i guess i am just glad i got remembered, no matter what his real purpose is. and … there goes this …

IMG_0103

i guess this one is … his.

and mine …

it is in shibuya, and it was ………. sweet.

Aloha Table

There’s a fair amount of trickle-in of Hawaiian cuisine in Tokyo, just as I’m sure you get plenty of Japanese food in Hawaii. I’ve reviewed and loved Kua Aina Burger before, and now I can add Aloha Table to my list of must-go-again Hawaiian restaurants. Aloha Table’s location in Nakameguro is warm and colorful, and has plenty of options for vegetarians, vegans, and the more meat inclined. The atmosphere of the cafe matches the neighborhood, too, and it’s a relaxing (but not too distant) getaway from the usual bustle and noise of Tokyo.

Taiko

I’ve been in Japan for a little while and have seen a few taiko performances. None, however, were as good as the one put on by a group of young women at Nezu Shrine the other week. It’s hard to describe what made them so good – because it’s true that they were talented, well-coordinated, skilled, and looked like they were having a blast, but those words alone don’t seem to capture the energy and passion of the performers and the audience that shared in the experience.

There’s just something about watching people who are dedicated to a craft, and really happy doing it.

Uguisu: The Little Shoppe

“Zakka” means housewares or home goods, but that translation doesn’t do zakka shops like Uguisu justice. I went by the little shop, which sells a curated collection of miscellaneous, adorable, and well-made things, one Sunday with a friend. The shop is run by Hiki, a well-known Tokyo photo blogger, whose eye for style is reflected in her site and her shop. Uguisu is open Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, so if you’re looking for a nice handkerchief, some paper goods, or even a bowtie (bowties are cool) you should take a look!

Azaleas, Overshadowed by Sakura

I get why sakura (cherry blossoms) are such a big deal in Japan. But in all the excitement over sakura, it’s easy to forget the many other beautiful flower blooming seasons that Tokyo and the rest of Japan has to offer. For example, azaleas! I noticed the bushes around my neighborhood were in full bloom in mid April and continued on into early May. Thanks to a tip from a friend, I went to see the spectacular azalea gardens at Nezu Shrine.
