Line outline
It serves the 2nd- and 3rd-busiest stations, Takadanobaba and Seibu-Shinjuku station. It extends from Tokyo’s business center, Shinjuku, out to the west, stopping in Koganei and Nishi-Tokyo cities, connecting to Kawagoe city in Saitama prefecture. The Seibu Shinjuku line is mainly used by people who live outside the special 23 Tokyo wards, in places like Saitama and western Tokyo, who come into the city for work or school. It has different kinds of express and local services so you can easily get to where you want to go in the most convenient way. It also connects through to the Haijima line. The Seibu Shinjuku line passes through many popular places to live on its way into the center of Tokyo.
Things to see
The most lively area along the Seibu-Shinjuku line is perhaps the area around Seibu-Shinjuku station. From here you can get to Kabukicho as well as the JR Shinjuku station area, with access to department stores such as Isetan, Takashimaya, and more. Just outside the Shinjuku area you will find many pockets of nature, and many people enjoying the parks. Stations where you can most easily find these areas are around Numabukuro, Hana-Koganei, and Tanashi stations. Once getting into Saitama, there are many bedroom communities and family towns. Near Kuko-Koen station, you will find the Tokorozawa Aviation Museum, where you can see real airplanes up-close. The area around Hon-Kawagoe station has preserved a historically Japanese-style atmosphere. There is such a wide variety of areas and places to explore along the Seibu Shinjuku line.
