Railway Overview
The Seibu Toshima line is very short, consisting of just Toshima-en station and Nerima station on the Seibu Ikebukuro line. There are also direct lines through the Seibu Ikebukuro line. Though the line is called Toshima, both stations are actually in Nerima ward. Nerima ward is in the north of the 23 Tokyo wards, with 700,000 people, but has the 5th-largest area, and is an area with lots of nature and quiet residential areas.
Many people use Nerima station, which has lots of shops, restaurants, and a supermarket nearby. Toshima-en is a safe area with many family apartments. It is important for families enjoying a day out, and commuters and students heading in to Ikebukuro.
Places to see
Toshimaen is an amusement center with open pools in the summer, which helps people beat the heat. In the off season, they run the Toshimaen Fishing Area. Depending on the season, there are flower-viewing and illumination events in this huge park. It is right next to the Niwa no yu hot springs. There is a pool, sauna, food, and relaxation areas. There is also a Toys R Us nearby. Toshimaen station also has a United Cinemas where you can also see 4DX movies. They also have late shows. There are convenience stores, cafes, sushi, Italian, Turkish, and Indian food too.
Lifestyle
There are many small supermarkets and convenience stores around Toshima-en station so it is convenient for everyday shopping. Near next-door Nerima station there are also supermarkets, drug stores, hospitals, and other public services. In just 15 minutes you can also get to Ikebukuro ,with its electronics and fashion shops, and by taking the Oedo line you can get to Shinjuku and Roppongi. From Nerima you can also take direct trains through Tokyo Metro Yurakucho and Fukutoshin lines for access to Shibuya, Yokohama, Yurakucho, Toyosu, and Shin-Kiba. Plus if you head to the Saitama area from Nerima, you can get to Tokorozawa and Irima for Outlet Park Iriya and Costco stores. This line has great local flavor, and high convenience.
