Station overview
Nippori station is in Arakawa ward in Tokyo, on the JR, Keisei, and Toei lines. The JR lines are the Keihin Tohoku, Joban - Narita, and Yamanote lines. The Keisei lines are the Main line (direct through Narita Sky Access line), and the Toei line is the Nippori Toneri Liner. The station is crowded with people making their transfers. The station opened in 1905, and the Keisei line began service here in 1931. Toei started service in 2008. The opening of the shopping building within the station, Ecute, brought more riders and shoppers. There are 6 JR platforms, 2 Keisei platforms, and 2 Toei platforms, so it is known for having a lot of platforms. Average daily ridership is over 100,000 for the Keisei line, 48,000 for Nippori Toneri Liner, and 113,000 for the JR lines. Nippori is the most-used station on the Nippori Toneri Liner.
Places to see
There are several things of interest around Nippori station. One is the Nippori Textile Town, a shopping street 200 meters from the station, with many many shops dedicated to textiles and sewing. If you're a crafty person, this is definitely a place to check out. You might find many rare things you can't find anywhere else, and at good prices too.
The Asakura Museum of Sculpture is 300 meters from the station, with many impressive works of art to see. The building itself is also great, with over 100 years of history. The park next door has many trees and large boulders, and it looks different depending on the season. You can purchase a year pass for the museum to see all the rotating displays they have to offer.

Since Nippori station is on the JR Yamanote line, it is easy to get to all sorts of other places. What makes this even more convenient is that rent prices around Nippori are cheaper than other Yamanote stops, and is still convenient for daily shopping.
