Area information of Tamagawagakuen Mae Station
Station overview
Tamagawa Gakuenmae is in Machida City in Tokyo prefecture, and is a station along the Odakyu Odawara line. The stop is served by local and various express lines, and the next station over is major terminal Machida station. Average daily ridership is 48,000. The station is used mostly by students at the Tamagawa Gakuen university, so most of its use is during weekdays. Though it is not a very large station, it has elevators connecting the platforms and ticket gates as well as the exits. There are bus terminals at both the north and south exits providing access to many other parts of the city.
Places to see
There are many spots around the station having to do with the Tamagawa Gakuen university. The most interesting spots are a bit far from the station. 1 kilometer away are the Machida Museum and archaeological ruins. The museum was founded in 1973, displaying local history, art, and a lot of glassware. It is just 300 yen to enter so it is an easy place to enjoy an afternoon.
The archaeological ruins park contains recreations of prehistoric Jomon- and Yayoi-era houses. It is a great way to experience human history up close.
Lifestyle
Tamagawa Gakuenmae station is in a safe area, making it a good choice for families and students. There are a lot of cheap places to eat and drink, geared toward students. Next-door Machida station has many huge shopping malls and entertainment centers, which is a good choice for weekend fun. There are many supermarkets, drugstores, and 100-yen shops near Tamagawa Gakuenmae station. You can also get to Shibuya and Shinjuku in around 30 minutes.
