Tanashi station is in Nishi-Tokyo city, on the Seibu Shinjuku line. It opened in 1927, seeing overhauls over the years with a final remodel in 1999. Near Tanashi station there are banks, shopping centers, and universities and schools. 500m from the station there are Tanashi shrine and Henritsuji temple. It is unclear when exactly the shrine was built, but it clearly has a very long history. It was damaged in the Great Eastern Japan Earthquake, but was repaired in 2013. Henritsuji is a great place to enjoy nature quietly.
