Station overview

Warabi station is in Saitama prefecture, Warabi city. It is between Minami-Urawa and Nishi-Kawaguchi stations. Every day it sees 60,000 riders, ranked 78 in JR East. This is higher than even a couple of important stations in Tokyo proper. The Keihin Tohoku line sandwiches Tokyo prefecture, connecting Omiya in Saitama to Yokohama in Kanagawa. Though Warabi is only on the Keihin Tohoku line, you can still get to places without having to transfer, and it is right next to a terminal station to get on to even more convenient train lines.

Places to see

Warabi city is a very small city with only 75,000 people. Just a few minutes' walk from the station you will find yourself in neighboring Kawaguchi city. There are no major sightseeing spots near the station to speak of, but there are several restaurants that are well-loved by locals, and the Warabi city hall is often used as a filming location for TV shows and legal dramas. There are plenty of places to shop near the station, and there are karaoke and izakayas. The station itself is not very big, but the areas out the east and west exits are different from each other, though still convenient. It's a bit of a walk away but along highway 17 there is a Don Quijote discount store. There are also many parks.

Lifestyle

Access to the rest of the city is easy from Warabi. There are many offices along the Keihin Tohoku line so many people can easily get to work without having to transfer. Outside the station there are several supermarkets, including Tobu, Seiyu, Maruetsu, and more. There is also a 100-yen shop and many restaurants, and several are open late. There is a bus from the station that goes to the Kawaguchi Aeon Mall, where there is a Uniqlo clothing store, Nitori home supply store, and more. Walk further out from the station to find quiet residential neighborhoods. The highway 17 is close by so those with cars will find it convenient. Visits to the parks on weekends can be relaxing. The proximity to Tokyo is a huge plus of living here.
