Area information of Nerima

Area overview

As Japan's capital, Tokyo is often thought of as a concrete jungle best represented by areas like Shinjuku and Shibuya, but Nerima is a great example of a Tokyo ward that is somewhat the opposite. Nerima boasts a large population on par with Setagaya, and is also known as a bedroom town. It is a large ward, and has some of Tokyo's only farms producing many foods. It also has many young people living there, which is good for the ward's future. 90% of Nerima is residential neighborhoods.

Things to see

Tokyo is often imagined as a bright, futuristic town with many skyscrapers, but despite being relatively close to this view of Tokyo, Nerima is a relaxed place away from the hustle and bustle. Compared to other areas, it may not have many "fun" places, but it has lots of nature and farmland that makes it attractive. It has many parks, like Shakujii, Johaku, Hiharigaoka, and Musashiseki parks. Interestingly, though it is known as a residential area and a place with a lot of farms, it is also home to many anime production companies, transmitting this piece of Japanese culture to the world.

Lifestyle

Nerima has a population of about 700,000 people. It has great transportation access and reasonable housing prices, so many families choose to live here. Usually, owning a car in Tokyo is more of a nuisance than anything, but Nerima has a high number of car owners compared to the rest of the 23 wards, and because the roads and highways in Nerima are convenient, car owners in Nerima are fairly satisfied with their transportation options. Nerima is also known as an "urban farm", because the distance between producer and consumer is so close which keeps transport costs down and provides fresh local produce.

Area information of NakamurabashiStation

Nakamurabashi station is on the Seibu Ikebukuro line, in Tokyo's Nerima ward. It opened in 1924, and serves around 39,400 riders per day, 24th among the 92 Seibu stations. The area around the north exit has an old downtown feel. The station is next to Nerima station, where you can transfer to the Seibu Toshima, Seibu Yurakucho, and Toei Oedo lines. In 1998 the line began direct service through the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho line out to Kiba, and in 2008 service was expanded along the Metro Fukutoshin, Tokyu Toyoko, and Minato Mirai lines, granting easy access to Shinjuku Sanchome, Shibuya, and Yokohama areas. Therefore it is used by people commuting into Ikebukuro, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Ichigaya, Iidabashi, and Nishi-Waseda.
