Railway Overview
The Toden Arakawa line runs above ground, so it can be easy to spot. Starting in Minowabashi station in Arakawa ward and running to Waseda station in Shinjuku, it goes through 30 stations over 12.2 km. At some stations you can change to JR or Metro lines. In 2017, people started also calling this the Tokyo Sakura Tram line. The trains themselves are small, and look somewhat like buses, and many people use the line for commuting to work or school, or for sightseeing. Because it runs on the streets, it runs at a leisurely 40km per hour.
Places to see
There are 30 stops on the Toden Arakawa line, so there are many things to see. The Sunshine Aquarium is near Higashi-Ikebukuro-yonchome station. Here you can see cape penguins, giant sunfish, clownfish, seals, pelicans, and more.
Asukayama park is near Asukayama station, and it is beautiful with sakura trees in spring. The spot is also known for its connection to 8th shogun Tokugawa Yoshimune. Now, there is the Asukayama Museum, Paper Museum, and Shibusawa Memorial Museum. It is like an oasis in the middle of Tokyo.

Lifestyle
The Toden Arakawa line runs through several of Tokyo's 23 wards in the north, and thought it has many stops, it runs over a shorter distance than other railway lines. Most of the locals that live near it see and use it more like a bus, getting them from places to shop or more. The areas it run through are more downtown areas, with supermarkets and other convenient daily shopping. Rent prices are also not that expensive. The area also has other convenient transportation options. It is easy to find fruits and vegetables for cheap around this area, making it perfect whether you are in a family or by yourself. It is a great place to live to keep costs down in a hometown-style area.
