Railway Overview

After departing from metropolitan terminal Ikebukuro station, the line passes through residential areas in Itabashi and Nerima wards before heading into southeast Saitama. From Wakoshi to Kawagoeshi station, you will see many large apartment buildings. The Tojo line serves as a line for the bedroom communities in Saitama to commute for work or school. From Wakoshi station there is through service on the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho line, Fukutoshin line, and Tokyu Toyoko line, meaning there is easy access to Shinkiba, Shibuya, and Yokohama. The line runs for a long way, so there is also a reserved-seating service called TJ Liner, making long trips more comfortable. There are also of course many other services like local, express and more. The line connects livable areas in Saitama to the city via Ikebukuro.

Places to see

Ikebukuro station has many lines, so it is replete with many shopping malls and department stores, like Lumine, Tobu, Seibu, and Parco. There are also many affordable electronics stores. Also don't miss the Sunshine Aquarium and movie theaters. Ikebukuro also has a sub-culture scene to rival Akihabara. Asakadai station is connected to Kita-Asakadai station on the Musashino line, giving you access to Kanagawa and Chiba. Near Tsuruse station is Lalaport Fujimi, a large shopping mall. Kawagoe, also known as Little Edo, has old style buildings and roads and is a popular sightseeing spot. The shopping street extends from Kawagoe station. From here you can take the Kawagoe line to Omiya, and from Kawagoeshi station you can walk to Hon-Kawagoe station on the Seibu Shinjuku line for access to Shinjuku. Shinrinkoen station is home to a large park with many things to do.

Lifestyle

The area around Ikebukuro station has tons of shops, whether just for shopping or daily convenience. Other stations support residential areas with supermarkets, convenience stores, and more. Rent prices are affordable and the towns are livable, so it is nice to live near such a convenient hub. The through service via Wakoshi station gives you access to Shinkiba, Shibuya, and Yokohama, meaning you can get to Tokyo Disneyland, Shibuya Hikarie, Yokohama Minato Mirai 21, and more. On days off head into Kawagoe or Shinrinkoen, or even the Chichibu mountains.
