Oak Explorers: Nakano Fujimicho
Gran Nakano now open! What kind of place is Nakano Fujimicho?
The 2nd house in our Gran series! Gran Nakano opened in March 2016 and is closest to Nakano Fujimicho station. You can get to Shinjuku on the Marunouchi line in 10 minutes. It's only a 5-minute walk from the station! To explore Nakano Fujimicho, our Sanpo-tai excursion crew this time consists of Ito and Kan from Marketing, Momi and Yuka from Management, and Oakhouse residents Jun and Adrian!
Why is it called Nakano Fujimicho?
Exiting Nakano Fujimicho station
Right outside the station is a Daily story and Matsuya. Cross the Fujimi bridge over the Kanda river and find sushi, set lunch, soba, 7-Eleven, and other shops. A long time ago, you could see Mt. Fuji from this spot. And since Gran Nakano has a roof, you might be able to see it too!
If you are hungry for a big lunch, come here!
From local diners to chains
If all you're after is a steak, you have to come to Kennedy! Large steaks and salisbury steaks, and they're open until 11:45.
But of course if you're in Japan to experience, well, Japanese stuff, there's always plenty of that, such as Ramen Menkou, healthy ramen with no additives. It helps that it tastes great too!
Famous bakery, within a bakery!
A cute bakery. Though it's a small shop, it attracts a lot of customers. It has many different kinds of bread, and homemade jam and pudding. We recommend the croissants!

Old, but good! Nabeyoko shopping street
Annual summer festival
10 minutes from Nakano Fujimicho is the Nabeyoko shopping street. It has many kinds of places, from 100 yen shops to large supermarkets and everywhere in between. This is the area where they hold the annual summer festival, and in Sugiyama park they hold the bon odori.
A unique izakaya
Spice and Curry Izakaya
Ever since this place was introduced on the popular TV show Tamori Club, it's always packed! When we visited, it was full, and the people who worked there, as well as the customers, taught us about the menu. There's curry potato salad, curry motsuni, curry kushiyaki, curry oden...and more! It's really popular so try to make a reservation if you can!

In the spring you will probably be able to see the sakura bloom along the Kanda river. You can eat fresh bread, curry oden, have a drink at the counter bar at Gran Nakano, so why not come try out a Gran lifestyle?
