SOCIAL RESIDENCE MACHIDA KURIHIRA

Days in the Life 1

I hope I can help out people who feel stressin their bodies.

Ms. Kasuya lives at Social Residence Machida Kurihira, and helps out her share mates with their bodies, minds, diet, and other health tips under the theme of women's health. We interviewed her about how she feels about healthy living, women's lives, her lifestyle, work, and other activities.

Just by living here, you can meet people with different kinds of jobs and from different countries

What has changed since moving into a share house?
By living here, I am able to meet people who have all kinds of different jobs, and people from many different countries. Also, because it's a shared living experience, people are more prone to helping each other out. For example, you might learn or teach cooking techniques, or ask to borrow some sugar or something, or lend someone a dress to wear to a wedding or borrow something you need. It's very convenient.

Why did you choose Social Residence Machida Kurihira?
I wanted somewhere that was quiet and relaxing.
Kurihira is a quiet neighborhood that fits me perfectly.
It was kind of nice to move into a town I didn't know much about yet.
Also, I just really liked the atmosphere I feel from the people in the lounge, and I really liked the manager who first showed me around.

For women's health!

Your job is in the medical field, can you tell us about it?

My job is to help people with illness or disabilities due to accidents find the best way to live a healthy and fulfilling life.

You have qualification in muscle release techniques. Can you tell us about that?

You relax, and we warm up the muscles. It softens up any tenseness in the body. I got the certification to help me do my job better.

What made you want to get the certification?

I feel like households and families do best when the woman has energy, so I want to help women throughout the world feel good about themselves.

Healthy share mates

What made you want to share your skills with your housemates?

I thought it would make for good experience and practice. You can only get better by doing, and usually you are limited by your social circle or where you are. But at a share house, there are lots of people and lots of opportunity to talk to them and get feedback. If people are having any problems, I hope I can help out.

Moving onward

What are you currently putting effort into at the share house?

From fall 2014 I've been doing something called "Eco Cap". You gather up all the PET bottle caps that come from the share house, and by doing so you can help purchase polio vaccines for children throughout the world.
Everyone helps out and cooperates so much.
Before, I would do this at school or my work, so it's great to be able to do it at the share house too.

What would you like to do in the future?

I hope to be able to provide more services and skills in the future.
