Tachikawa station is in Tokyo's Tachikawa city. It lies on 3 JR lines, the Chuo, Ome, and Nambu lines. It is an important terminal station outside the 23 Tokyo wards, serving 160,000 riders per day. The station began in 1889, originally as a station on the old Kobu Railway, connecting to Shinjuku. Major remodeling work was done in 1982, and then later in 2016. The Chuo line sees many more riders than the other two lines, and the platforms and lines were re-designed around this. There are 5 exits, and many shops around them. There is also a JR ticket office. You can also change to the Tama Toshi Monorail.
