Kawasaki is a city in the northeastern part of Kanagawa. It is very livable and focus has been placed on it as a good place to raise children. It is close to the Tokyo metropolis as well as Yokohama, so it is convenient.


Things to see

Kawasaki city has many facilities that promote culture and the arts, and it is popular as an artist town. One popular spot is the Fujiko F. Fujio Museum, celebrating the works of the artist and writer of Doraemon and other popular Japanese manga, and can be enjoyed by all ages. The café on the 3rd floor of the museum has a special menu. Other spots worth mentioning are the Japan Open-Air Folk House Museum, with a collection of old Japanese folk houses; and the Taro Okamoto Museum of Art.
Kawasaki also has many places where you can enjoy sports. There is the Todoroki sports arena, which is home to Kawasaki’s own J-league football club, Kawasaki Frontale. As an indoor arena Todoroki arena is also used for volleyball and basketball games.

Area information of ShitteStation

Shitte is a station in Saiwai ward in Kawasaki city, on the JR Nambu line. It opened in 1927. Average daily ridership is 14,000 people, which is not a very big number, but it is one of the few stations whose ridership has grown quite a lot over the last 20 years. There is local service only. From 2011 the station became more barrier-free, with elevators for easier access. The station lies on the border of Saiwai ward in Kawasaki city and Tsurumi ward in Yokohama city.
