Area information of Kawasaki

Area information

Kawasaki is a city in the northeastern part of Kanagawa. It is very livable and focus has been placed on it as a good place to raise children. It is close to the Tokyo metropolis as well as Yokohama, so it is convenient.

Things to see

Kawasaki city has many facilities that promote culture and the arts, and it is popular as an artist town. One popular spot is the Fujiko F. Fujio Museum, celebrating the works of the artist and writer of Doraemon and other popular Japanese manga, and can be enjoyed by all ages. The café on the 3rd floor of the museum has a special menu. Other spots worth mentioning are the Japan Open-Air Folk House Museum, with a collection of old Japanese folk houses; and the Taro Okamoto Museum of Art.
Kawasaki also has many places where you can enjoy sports. There is the Todoroki sports arena, which is home to Kawasaki’s own J-league football club, Kawasaki Frontale. As an indoor arena Todoroki arena is also used for volleyball and basketball games.

Lifestyle

Though Kawasaki is a large city, it still has lots of areas of nature and water, and there is plenty to do and see. Ikuta Park is in the north, for example, with plenty of trees and greenery. Musashi-Kosugi is a growing residential area that is rising in popularity.
The area around Kawasaki station has many convenient places to shop and eat and is always bustling.
The fact that Kawasaki is also a prime manufacturing spot also casts a limelight on it. You can take factory tours and see other places of production. Kawasaki has a diverse range of things that attract tourists and sightseers.

Area information of Shin KawasakiStation

Shin-Kawasaki station is in Saiwai ward in Kawasaki city. It is on the JR Yokosuka and Shonan-Shinjuku lines, and opened in 1980. For various reasons it was almost called Shin-Kashimada, but that was deemed too confusing, and they decided on its current name. Average daily ridership is 27,000, a 6,000 person increase over 20 years. There are many buses that go from the station, and coupled with the trains give you a wide net over which you can travel. There are two small convenience stores in the station, one inside the gates and one just outside. The station also sells "ekiben" bento lunches, filled with Chinese shumai dumplings.
