Area information of Taito

Area outline

Taito ward is in the center-east of Tokyo. It is a relatively small ward, though it has many businesses and buildings. On the other hand, the mood of the Edo period still lingers. Performance and art styles from the era still continue on here, bridging new and old.
There are many sightseeing spots in Taito ward, and many people come to visit every day. Taito ward contains the Sumida river and the Kanda river, with relaxing parks where you can enjoy baseball or track events.

Things to see

The most famous thing in Taito is the Ueno zoo, famous for its pandas. Thanks to the pandas, there was a "panda boom" in Japan. It's a great place to come see animals up close.
The most famous temple in Taito is clearly Sensoji in Asakusa. It is the oldest temple grounds that remain in Tokyo, and many people come from all over the world to see its famous gates. There is also the market street Ameyoko that is bustling year-round.

Lifestyle

Taito is a very convenient place to live, with a typical Japanese charming downtown feel. It also is very convenient for transportation, with many train lines taking people everywhere, even to the airport. Many bedroom towns have sprung up along these routes.
There are plenty of places to shop, too, so it is very pleasant, with also many cultural places of interest. There are natural history and art museums for the intellectually curious as well.

Area information of Asakusa(TsukubaExpress)Station

Tsukuba Express Asakusa station is in Taito ward in Tokyo. It should be noted that this is not the same Asakusa station most would be familiar with, separated from it by 600 meters, so it can be difficult to transfer to another line. It was built in 2005, and there are several express service trains. You can get to Akihabara in just 4 minutes. If you need to go the other way toward Tsukuba, you can get there on the express in as fast as 39 minutes. Each day around 10,803 people use this station. It is a very deep station, 4 floors underground, and you can get to the top using the escalator or elevator. For restrooms, you will have to go to the ticket gate area.
