Area information of Meguro

Area overview

Meguro ward is one of Tokyo's special 23 wards and is located in the southwest, and has a population of 276,000 people. It is a large bedroom town with a wide range of people living in a wide range of styles of domiciles. Average income in Meguro is 6.64 million yen, which is rather high.
Meguro extends from north to south and is a relatively small ward. It is a bit different from neighboring Shibuya and Setagaya wards in that it lacks huge office building areas but maintains a lot of its nature. It contains the Meguro, Tachiai, and 3 other large rivers that wind along tree-lined roads, making for a perfect place to view the cherry blossoms in the spring. It also has many foreign embassies, like Bangladesh, Poland, Kenya, and other African nations.

Things to see

Meguro has many art galleries, such as the Sato Sakura Museum of Art. Many of them have thoughtful and tasteful architecture that greatly complements the surrounding area, the mood, and the theme of its pieces.
Himoya Park is a great place to take children, as it is full of various plants and a place where you can interact with small animals. You can also take a small boat for a leisurely ride. From Meguro open-air garden, you can see Mt. Fuji on a clear day.

Lifestyle

As Meguro is a sort of bedroom town in Tokyo, it has a lot of schools and other educational institutions. It also has some of the lowest crime in the 23 wards, so it is a good place to raise children. It is very close to business and shopping areas of Shibuya and Minato wards, with very easy access to these areas.
It is a relaxed area, but also high status. It consistently tops the list of the annual ranking of where people would like to live.

Area information of ShibuyaStation

Shibuya station is in Shibuya ward in Tokyo, and is on the JR, Keio, Tokyu, and Metro lines. It is one of the 3 urban areas on the Yamanote line, and lies along 9 lines, serving 2.3 million riders per day. The station is built in such a way that you will have to climb different floors and take several pathways to transfer to other lines, so it is often called a "dungeon" station. That said, there is plenty of shopping, a wide array of bus lines, and the town is undergoing redevelopment looking toward the future.
