それが、中高の６年間、シェアハウスみたいな全寮制で学んだこと。
ここも、人気物件すぎて、待ちのときもあった。
とはいえ、入れ替わりで空くことあるので、要チェキっす。

一緒に住もうっす♪
Just last week, my friends and I headed to Gran Tachikawa. It’s one of four Oakhouse residents in Tachikawa and pretty popular as I only see a few vacancies when I look at the website.
I know the manager in the area and he told me about the party. He was still planning his party theme at the time he told me about it but I said yes on the spot.
Ever since I moved to Tachikawa in April 2018, I noticed there are some parties hosted by Oakhouse but I was never interested. I guess it was because I did not have people to go with. I made some friends in Tachikawa Garden Town right after I moved in but it took some time to get to know each other well. I finally get to know them well after I started playing badminton with them. Now, I hang out with them almost every week on Friday at Shibasaki gym ( one of two public gyms in Tachikawa city)
The Christmas party was on the 10th of December and it was going to be at the common space in Gran Tachikawa. There were already some people who live in the building and there was enough food on the table. Free of charge of course.
I went there with three of my friends. Two of them live in Tachikawa Garden Town and one of them live in social residence Hanakoganei.
I initially expected it would be hard to blend in because usually people have their own group/friends to talk to at the house but it was easy to blend in, surprisingly. I started having conversations with the local Gran Tachikawa-ers and found out why quickly.
The people who were at the party didn’t really know each other as well. Apparently, people in Gran Tachikawa do not have much chance to get to know each other. They certainly have a nice common space where everyone in the building can use. The shared space even comes with a big nice kitchen where you can cook or party or watch TV. A mini theater room and a study room was also in the same space. The people who came to the party on that day are definitely the ones who want to hang out with other people. They say they do come to the living room sometimes but they have not really seen anyone using that space. The people who we talked seemed happy that we were there. That was probably why it was easy to talk to them.
It was a small surprise that I got to drink hot wines at the party. The manager made a full pot of it and it was very good in my opinion. I had some authentic ones in Germany before but it’s definitely harder to find in Japan. I am not sure what kind of spice is supposed to be used to make hot wine but cinnamon should be one of them. It has a distinct flavor and it brought me back to the day I was in Germany.
After some eating/drinking and socializing, we started playing games. It was only one day after the new Super Smash on Nintendo Switch came out. We all got to play because one of the guys who live in Gran Tachikawa had the game and console. It was great but it took some time to get used to the new game system.
It was such a fun time and we should definitely do more often. I told the people I met them there about the weekly badminton match in Garden Town so some of them might come and join us soon. We could always come back to the living room in Gran Tachikawa as well. It’d be such a waste if we don’t use the space at all. I guess we know about this well because we do not have a common space in Tachikawa Garden Town.

ふつかめ号に乗って、日々ぶんぶんドローンを飛ばしてまーす、
と言いたいところですが、毎日雲もくもく・雨・雲もくもく・雨 あはは……
うーん、実に島の冬らしい、これこそ島の季節感！ (* – ω – )
そうそう、東京で12月に気温が30度にならないからって首傾げないのと同じで
島の冬は雨風上等、晴れないのが通常モード気分でいるべしですね。
そんなわけで、いっつも空見上げてます。
ちょっとでも雲の薄くなった空を発見すれば、そっちへふつかめ号を走らせるんです。
でも……風が強いからあっという間に雲が流され
次のがやってきて、雨粒が落ちて来ちゃったり。
「さっき青かったのに、くやしー!!!!」
とか思ってはいけません。
今回知りました、心を落ち着かせる合言葉。
「あきらめも肝心」。
そうです、チャンスを見極めるという自分なりの最良の手段を
行使しても空が変わってドローン飛ばせなかった……
これは、ただそうだっただけです。そしてさらに、
「あきらめのよさこそ品格」
とはこじつけのこじつけでなんの話？的なフレーズですが、
個人的にはそう付け足してトライアンドエラーを繰り返しております。

超萌え萌えシーンを思い出すのも効果絶大!!
「雨降りやだな、雨降りやだな、サーカスがお休みになっちゃう」
ってパン（コパンダ）が仰向けになって言うんですよ。
かわいいでしょ!!!!!
このビジュアルを思い出すとどんな雨も許せちゃうんですよね。
あーかわい。

カタンというゲームをご存知でしょーか？
超人気なボードゲームで、世界で2000万セットも販売されたとのこと。
ボードゲームのイベントで何度か聞いたことあった。
そしたら、我がシェアハウスにも、6種類くらいあり。
1ゲーム平均1時間半くらいかかる。
なので、土日に「やろーー」って声かかることが多い。
ばらつきもあるけど、週数回プレイしてる。
戦略ゲームっす。
考えるとこいっぱいでおもしろい。
サイコロの目によって、運に左右されるとこもおもろい。
交渉して、自分を有利にしつつ、相手の有利さを増やさせないのも大事。
下は２台同時でプレイ
って、書いてたら、いまずぐプレイしたくなってきたｗｗｗ
元々ゲームは4人用。
でも、260人も住んでるから、5人目が入りたくなる可能性もある。
僕が川崎までチャリで行き、
（そーそー、チャリで川崎まで15分もかからないかなと。）
4人用ゲームが６人用になるセットも購入してきた。
さっそく、さっき６人でプレイｗｗｗ
この日から、５～６人でもプレイでき、毎日開催ｗ
ボードゲーム好きな人も引越してきてちょ♪

さすが日本最大シェアハウス！
さまざまな部活動があるけど、なんと！ビーチバレー部もある。
とはいっても、前回開催は２年前とのこと。
いつもフットサルのとき、区の施設を使用してるけど、
その同じ敷地内にビーチバレーのコートもある。
そちらで開催してくれた。
チャリで10分ちょい。電車だと3つ先と近いけど、歩きもあるので30分くらい。
きれいな白い砂で整備されている。
ビーチといっても、すぐ裏にビーチっぽいのがある。
なぜか、遊泳禁止が多いのかも。
そして、いざビーチバレーしてみると・・・
めっちゃおもしろい。
ダイブとか、飛び込むことって、実生活のなかにはないけど・・・
めっちゃダイブ♪
ストレス発散！
って、僕自身はストレスない生活だけど。
砂まみれだったので、2日間は、耳から砂が出てきたｗｗｗ
でも、一緒にビーチバレーした仲間は口をそろえて、
【おもしろ～～い！！！また、やろー♪】
僕もまた参加したい♪
さらにいうと、260人いるので、もっと「ビーチバレーしよー♪」とお声掛けすれば、
もっと人数が増えて楽しいはず♪

I must say that I don’t eat burgers so often in Tokyo and it’s something I usually avoid because it’s not the healthiest choice. There are many many other choices of food you can choose in Tokyo as well. It is, however, something that I crave for every once in a while.
There are many fast food chains that you can find in Tokyo but I usually don’t go to those places. I understand that burgers you can get in the chains are one of the cheapest choice but I want a really good burger because it’s not something I eat often. I guess for me burgers are more like a feast.
50’s diner is a restaurant that I found recently and I’ve kept going back to. It’s a burger place close to Tachikawa station. The impressive interior design is so hidden from the street that you’d be surprised to go inside for the first time. No one walking on the street would imagine that there’s such a place in Tachikawa. I talked to the restaurant owner and he admitted that put so much effort into the design.
Despite of the owner’s effort, it’s not the busiest restaurant in Tachikawa. I mean it should be but it’s not. I think it’s because of the location. It’s only 5 mins walk from Tachikawa Station so it’s not a bad access but the restaurant is not facing the main street and it’s on the second floor at the hidden corner of a narrow street. It’s almost impossible to wander around and find it by accident. You have to know about this place in advance!
I’ve been this place twice already for lunch but it was almost empty. I kind of like it that though. I usually don’t like to go where packed with people. This 50’s diner is something like a hidden place for fans. The owner told me that there are many of his customers choose to come back because of the hidden atmosphere.
My favorite seat in this restaurant, by the way, is the car sofa below. It really matches with the poster in the back. I heard that some people come back to this restaurant for this sofa seat.
I guess you’re wondering the quality of the burger. Don’t worry. It’s very good. The lunch menu starts from 980 yen for double cheese burger. There are more burgers and hotdogs available for lunch menu. I strongly recommend the double cheese burger for starters. The patty is very thick and juicy. It’s not something you can possibly get in the burger chains. I’m missing this patty right now. The double cheese burger comes with a drink so it’s really a good deal. They accept credit card too.
I came back to this restaurant a couple of weeks ago with my friends in Tachikawa Garden Town. Some of them are not the residents but they are part of our badminton team. I made a reservation because we were a group of 9.
I guess next time we go there at night as we found out that there are menu that only available at night.
カンボジアへの旅、ごはんも楽しかった～♬
今回はベトナム王さんサイトでの連載目的の取材だったので
いろんなタイプのごはんやさんを探して行ってきました。
庶民食堂に高級レストラン、おしゃれカフェや小粋なBARなどなど。
パークハイアットのハイティー
いやーびっくりでした。
シェムリアップは何度か訪れていますがその発展速度たるや。
そういう街は、世界を見れば色々あるんでしょうけど、
自分がここに初めてきた時にはまだ、アスファルトの道さえあんまりなかったので。
個人的な驚愕度がすごいんです。
宿のお隣の建物までちょっと土の道を歩いてたような。
でもあれはシェムリアップ川の近くだったなぁ、
オールドマーケットもありました、今や一等地じゃないですか！
（書いてて改めてびっくり）
宿代は２人で２ドルの満足？な個室、ごはんに選択肢はなく、
屋台でチャーハンとバナナジュース頼んで１ドルでお釣りきてましたw
そこの三姉妹が超わたし好みで、なんども通ってねぇ……
彼と行ってましたよ、そっちの趣味ではございませんw
それが、たった2,3年後に訪れた時の感想は
「カオサンだ！」
ですよ、びっくりしました。カオサンといえば、世界中からパッカー含む観光客が集まる
タイの首都バンコクの一大お騒がせ飲み遊びなんでもスポットですよね。
そこから加速度的に進化して、今やおしゃれカフェの宝庫、
おしゃれバーも高級エステも質の高いものなんでもあります。ねえさんびっくりやで。
それを一番感じたのは、パークハイアットでのハイティー。
こんな贅沢なティータイムの発想が、あの村のどこに潜んでいたんだか。
運ばれてきた時、後光が差して見えました。
食べる前に絶頂を迎えちゃいましたー！
スタッフさんが通ってニコってとしてくれて「ハッピー!!!」て返すこと数回w
しかもこの空間たら(*´°`*)
アジアンでヨーロピアンで、アンティークで新しさもみっちり。
しっとりした重厚感とポップな軽快さをミックスして調和抜群なのは流石でございます。
そして、まさかのほぼ独り占め！ カンボジアマジックでございまし。
これ、この街がもうちょっと成長した頃には、人混みになっちゃうかもしれませんよね。
そうなったらもう、この最強の贅沢は二度と味わえない……(*ﾟQﾟ*)(；∀；)
今がちょうどいいみたい♡
お値段は28ドルプラス税。こちらも物価の安いカンボジアならではです。
ちなみに、ネットで見たり実際訪れたりして、
ハイティーやってるホテルカフェ見比べて選んだんです、大当たり、大オススメです♬
There has been a good community building up in Tachikawa Garden Town, one of the Oakhouse apartments in Tachikawa. It’s a badminton club!
I call it a club but it’s not like a private club that you have to pay to join. It’s just a group of friends and family who live in Tachikawa Garden Town. It’s nothing serious as our target is not to win a championship but to have a good exercise. Though some of us, especially guys, tend to get serious to win the game. But that’s totally okay too.
It’s really not expensive either. True, joining a sport club or sign up for gym membership is expensive in Japan but it’s totally not when it comes to a public gym.
There happened to be a public gym called Shibasaki Gymnasium right at the back of our building. It’s 200 yen per person to play badminton for maximum 3.5 hours on Fridays. What we usually do is to make a reservation on Friday morning at the counter in the gym (yes someone has to go and book it). We usually take 7:30 P.M – 11 P.M spot so that people who are working on Friday can join us after work.
Gym membership in general costs like 10,000 Yen on average in Japan. You can see that it’s much lower than the market range. The public gym in general is subsidized by the local government and its purpose is to encourage people to exercise more on a daily basis so that people stay healthy without seeing a doctor. It’s an idea of preventive medicine. In a way, the government is investing on these facilities for citizens like us and they get to save the healthcare cost in return. This is such a great idea and it perfectly makes sense.
In Shibasaki gym, we usually get to choose what time we play. There are 4 time slots. Morning (9-12AM), Afternoon(12:30 to 4PM), Afteroon 2 (4PM – 7:30PM), Night (7:30PM-11PM) and only every Fridays, Third Sundays, and 2nd and 4th Saturdays are available for badminton. The opening day is different for each sport and is pretty complicated to be honest. I don’t understand why the gym just don’t open the entire gym for all the sports every day. I guess they think it’ll be too chaotic and it increases a chance of accident.
Anyway, I am not mad at this current system though I do think it’s complicated. This is totally forgivable because it’s all 200 yen. It is such a really good deal for renting a full size badminton court and playing for more than 3 hours (which is more than enough to play for fun).
Making a reservation of the badminton court is a big tricky. The only way to do this is to go to the gym counter and make a reservation the same day you plan to play. The gym opens at 8:50 AM and they take reservations for that day. They do not accept any reservation over phone calls.
There are only limited spots for badminton so you want to go there as early as possible to make a reservation. In case you did not get the court, there’s a waiting list that you can sign up for but this is not a guarantee.
I guess this system is fair because the gym is a community asset and they don’t really want people living outside the city come and book all the spots. This rule makes it easier for us to make a reservation since Tachikawa Garden Town is literally located at the back of the gym. Someone has to wake up early to make a reservation but that’s it.
Total of 8 courts are available for a single time slot
I moved here in April 2018 and the life in here is great but I quickly realized what’s missing. It is the live community. Unlike other share houses in Oakhouse, our Tachikawa Garden Town does not have a common space like kitchen or living room. Instead, we have a individual kitchen, living room, bathroom, and toilet room equipped in each room. It’s good to have your own facility and space but, as you can imagine, it makes it so much harder to socialize with other people in the same building.
Back in Oakhouse Kichijoji2, I had casual conversations with housemates almost every day. I often cooked so going to the living room on the first floor and kitchen was part of my daily routine. Even if I was shy and I don’t really want to talk to the people who just moved in, it would have been no problem since we literally see each other every day. It was so easy and natural to make friends in a house with common space. Obviously this was not the same in Tachikawa Garden Town.
Good thing is that the badminton day has been a weekly event and more people are joining. It’s great to see that this small community is growing and people are more connected by playing the same sport.
Every once in a while we go out to have a drink after badminton. This was taken last week when we went to HUB close to Tachikawa station. A total of 9 people came and it was a lot of fun. We also went karaoke afterwords!
