Tokyo Metro

shinsakuradaishinsakuradaiIt’s my first post here, had some problems with login before, but finally I can write about interesting things I meet in Tokyo 🙂

And first one is…

Tokyo Metro! I don’t think I need to tell you that here, in Tokyo, we have one of the best commutation systems in the world. Though it takes some time to get used to it, but in a week you’ll have no problem navigating here.  But even if you’ll live here for more than a year, sometimes you can end up in a place you didn’t want to go 🙂

For example – my guesthouse is at Shimo-Akatsuka station. To get here by metro you need to make sure you take the right train – there’re 2 lines going from Ikebukuro – one is Yurakucho and another is new one – Fukutoshin line. They both go to Wakoshi station in Saitama. But there’s a catch 😉 All metro lines in Tokyo don’t always stop at the last station. They continue to run further – continuing to private train lines. For example – from Wakoshi metro trains go to Kawagoe, becoming Tobu Tojo line trains. And there’s second private line which uses the same metro trains. It’s Seibu Ikebukuro line -_- So, to make sure I ride the correct train to my home station, I need to look for it’s final stop. And if it’s on Seibu line – I need to get off and wait for the next train. This can be done in Ikebukuro and Kotake-Mukaihara stations, but I won’t go into further detail – I think I already bored you to death with all this train talk 🙂

So, today I was too busy listening to Ipod while riding the train, and didn’t notice I chose the wrong one. And ended up at one of the Seibu line stations. It took me quite a while to get home, but I had a chance to see new station – ShinSakuradai! Below is the picture I took there. Even though it was 3.30PM, there were no people at the platforms. I felt like I’m taking part in some horror movie 🙂
